3rd Step Live - divine appointments are so COOL!

Another cool God story occurred today, which created a divine appointment for purposes of bringing forth light into the darkness!
Today was a beautiful day in Kerrville.  So I decided to go for a run.  As I was thinking about it, the Holy Spirit gave me a strong desire to go “run” the 0.7 mile road circuit over at the Kerrville Cross.  When I got there, about 8:45 am, there was no one there.  As I was finishing my 4th circuit, somebody I know showed up at the top.  She asked me if I would pray for her, which I told her I would gladly do.  She told me she needed direction about a situation which involved her son and him “messing up”.
I was given a strong desire to tell her about the prodigal son, which I did, and how he came to “his senses” in a pig pen orchestrated by consequences of his own actions.  No one “bailed him out”.  I was also led to talk to this mom about how the time she invests in worrying about this son and bailing this son out of his circumstances, is taking away time and money from her other kids who are doing well and “doing right”.  I told her that she was teaching the wrong message to her son in that his consequences hit the mom instead of the son, so the son had no reason to change his behaviors as mom would “fix consequences” for him, and the other message to the good children was that doing good did not provide any extra rewards for them from their mother in terms of more time with mother or fun experiences with her that money going to the son’s problems would have paid for.
When I finished talking, the mom began to cry and told me what I was saying was confirmation for her. She told me that last night when she was praying about her son, the Holy Spirit told her she needed to “take care of the people in her family who were doing well, don’t waste resources on those who aren’t doing well and continue to refuse correction.” This is a tough message for many people, especially mothers, but God knows best!
I went on to comfort this lady and let her know that "tough love" was never easy or comfortable, but many times is quite necessary in order for healthy changes in people's lives to occur.  I then prayed for and asked God to grant her the wisdom and strength that she needed!
It is so cool to me when the God of the Universe sets you up with divine appointments in which "your gifts" are able to bless others IF you let God use you!  I have found out over 27 years of walking with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, that if you allow yourself to be placed "in God's flow" on a daily basis, your life is always exciting, meaningful, and fulfilling!  Come jump in HIS River!  God's will for your life is always better than your own!
Have a great day!  God bless you!

I am so happy I came to this post. This looks as if it was written just for me. My husband and I are currently going through this with our 18 year old son. We have bailed him out over and over again to the detriment of our daughter, marriage and financial health. We made the decision to let him suffer the consequences of his actions. Please pray for our family.
